The decision to test environmentally friendly heavy-duty trucks has been taken by the company CEMROS. It is one of the leaders of the Russian cement industry, uniting 18 cement plants and more than 30 quarries for extraction of non-metallic materials.

Testing of methane-powered cement trucks started in seven Russian regions
Gas-fuelled tractors will travel from cement plants and transshipment complexes in the Leningrad, Ryazan, Bryansk, Vladimir, Tver, Ivanovo and Moscow regions within a radius of 500 km. The test operation, which will show fuel consumption and technical reliability of the vehicles, will last about five months.

After analysing and evaluating the operation of the methane tractors, the company will make a decision on further strategy for the development of the transport fleet and determine the next steps to expand the use of alternative fuels in logistics.

The use of methane-powered vehicles helps to reduce emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere. With an average tractor mileage of 240,000 km per year, greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by 36.9 tonnes of CO2-eq. and pollutants by 605 kg. Fuel costs are reduced by up to 40 per cent.

Earlier, CEMROS signed a major contract for the supply of cement trucks, which will join the company's fleet during the first half of 2025. The holding continues to increase the share of road deliveries against the backdrop of declining railway traffic to ensure stable supplies of products across Russia.
